LA CROSSE, Wis. (www.blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's track & field team concluded the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday in La Crosse. The Blugolds finished fifth overall as a team with 34 points as
Blake Postler highlighted the final day with a historic performance in the 400 meter hurdles. UW-La Crosse placed first overall in the meet with 106 points.
Before May 23, 2026, only one NCAA Division III student athlete clocked a 400 meter hurdle time under 50 seconds. The NCAA record holder, Edwin Moses from Morehouse College, was the lone member of the exclusive club for almost 50 years. On Saturday, Moses gained a companion as
Blake Postler etched his name in the record books as just the second student athlete to finish the 400m hurdles under 50 seconds since 1979. After winning the prelims on Thursday, Postler posted a personal, program, and conference record time of 49.88 seconds to not only join the historic company, but also earn his first national title. While adding ten points to the team total, Postler earned his sixth career All-America honor and third on the day.
Prior to his record setting performance,
Blake Postler earned a podium placement in the 110 meter hurdles. His third place finish was a personal best finish of 13.88 seconds.
Adding to Saturday's podium placements was
Reilly Templeton in the 200 meter race. Templeton finished sixth overall with a time of 21.24 seconds to earn his first All-America honors of the day. Reilly wasn't done there as he and the Blugolds' 4x400 relay team of Templeton,
Cameron Pease,
Fischer Wait, and
Blake Postler hit a season best time of 3:08.54, earning fourth place and All-America honors. The four members' top-5 finish added five points to the team total.
Johnny Botsch was the lone Blugold outside the top-8 in their events with a ninth place finish in the pole vault.
The Blugolds conclude their season having finished in the top six in each of the last seven NCAA Outdoor Championships and totaled two national champions and eight first team All-America performances.
