EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — UW-Eau Claire (17-6-0, 9-1-0) shut out Beloit College (2-20-0, 0-9-0) with a decisive 5–0 victory at home. The Blugolds dominated with 52 shots on goal and successfully converted one power-play opportunity.
The first period began with a quick offensive start for the Blugolds, as
Madisyn Krumholz scored the opening goal at 19:19, assisted by
Maddie Hulter and
Adrienne Hansen. This goal marked Krumholz's 12th of the season and proved to be the game winner. UW-Eau Claire dominated the faceoff circle, consistently gaining possession and generating numerous shots on goal. Despite multiple attempts, Beloit's goaltender Janelle Quast made several key saves to keep the score close, preventing further scoring in the period. The period concluded with UW-Eau Claire leading 1-0.
UW-Eau Claire extended its lead with a dominant second period against Beloit, beginning with
Sam Moehle's even-strength goal at 11:54, assisted by Krumholz. Just 26 seconds later,
Kenzie Keller capitalized on a pass from
Tori Schmidt, increasing the margin to three. The home team continued its offensive pressure, resulting in a power-play goal by
Lauren Ballinger at 09:28, set up by Krumholz and
Nora Carstensen. Despite numerous attempts by Beloit, goaltender
Tegan Swanson and the defense maintained the shutout, ending the period with a 4-0 advantage for the Blugolds.
UWEC extended its lead in the third period with a goal from Krumholz at 8:18, assisted by Hulter and Moehle. This goal marked Krumholz's 13th of the season and pushed the score to 5–0. The home team dominated the period, consistently pressuring Beloit's defense with numerous shots, while goaltender Swanson maintained the shutout. Despite Beloit's efforts, including blocked shots by defenders like Tate Hutchinson, the Blugolds controlled the play, securing a decisive victory.
Krumholz scored two goals, including the game-winner, and added two assists while finishing with a +3 rating. Moehle contributed a goal and an assist with a +3 rating as well. Ballinger netted a power-play goal and won 72% of her faceoffs. Keller added a goal and excelled in the faceoff circle, winning 73% of her draws.
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has a record of 17-6-0, including a 9-1-0 mark in conference play. Beloit stands at 2-20-0 overall and 0-9-0 in conference competition.
