Blugolds Take Weekend Series Against Buccaneers with Second 5-0 Victory of the Weekend

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (18-6-0, 10-1-0) defeated Beloit (2-21-0, 0-10-0) in a decisive 5–0 victory at home. The Blugolds' offense dominated, registering 67 shots and converting a power-play opportunity.

The Blugolds started the first period by taking command with a goal from McKenna Sandberg at 2:53, assisted by Jana Lesch and Harper Poehling. The home team dominated faceoffs early, with Ava Bullert and Kenzie Keller winning crucial draws that set up scoring opportunities. Despite several missed shots, UW-Eau Claire maintained pressure on Beloit, forcing Janelle Quast to make numerous saves. The period ended with the Blugolds holding a 1–0 lead over Beloit.

UW-Eau Claire extended its lead in the second period with two additional goals against Beloit. Ava Johansson scored at 2:53, assisted by Bullert, marking her fourth goal of the season. Later, at 9:52, Kenzie Keller increased the advantage, netting her 12th goal of the season with help from Sam Moehle. Beloit managed several shots on goal, but Alexa Backmann's saves kept them scoreless, while Quast was tested frequently by UWEC's offense. The period concluded with the Blugolds holding a 3–0 lead.

The Blugolds extended their lead in the third period with a strong performance against Beloit. Madisyn Krumholz scored an even-strength goal at 13:38, assisted by Adrienne Hansen and Ashley Wagenbach, to bring the score to 4–0. Moments later, Hansen capitalized on a power play with a goal at 10:26, assisted by Nora Carstensen, increasing the lead to 5–0. Backmann's goaltending and UW-Eau Claire's defensive efforts preserved the shutout, securing the decisive win.

Krumholz scored a goal and maintained a perfect faceoff win percentage, going 3-for-3. Hansen contributed with a goal and an assist, while also winning 13 of 19 faceoffs. Sandberg netted the game-winning goal, adding to her two shots on target. In goal, Backmann recorded 10 saves to secure the shutout victory.

The Blugolds hold an 18-6-0 overall record and a 10-1-0 mark in conference play. Beloit is 2-21-0 overall and 0-10-0 in its conference matchups.
