Linnea Vasali Matches Personal Collegiate Best as Blugolds Defeat Pipers

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire secured first place with a score of 189.250, highlighted by Kinley Rose's top finish on the uneven bars with a 9.575 and Linnea Vasali's 9.800 on the beam at their meet against Hamline University.

The Blugolds claimed first place with a total score of 189.250, dominating the competition across all events. On vault, Cadence Cordova led the team with a score of 9.425, securing second place overall, while Abigail Berens followed closely with a 9.375 for third. The team excelled on the uneven bars, where Rose delivered the top performance with a score of 9.575, and Cordova again showed strong form with a 9.425 to take second. Ella Montgomery and Ava Obermoller both contributed 9.375 scores, tying for third place in this event.

On the balance beam, Linnea Vasali's remarkable 9.800, tying her collegiate best and earning the top spot, while Meghan Dahlin added a strong 9.675 for second place. The floor exercise saw Hanna Riha achieve a score of 9.625, ranking third, with notable performances by Anna Preussner and Haley Zampella both securing top-five finishes. Throughout the event, consistent high scores from athletes like Cordova, Rose, and Vasali propelled UW-Eau Claire to an impressive victory, showcasing depth and reliability across all four rotations.

The Blugolds opened the meet with a score of 46.825 on vault, with Cordova's 9.425 contributing significantly to their start. On uneven bars, the team posted 46.900, led by Rose's event-winning 9.575, maintaining their momentum. The third rotation on balance beam saw UWEC achieve a high mark of 47.900, highlighted by Vasali's top score of 9.800. Closing on floor exercise, the team scored 47.625, with Riha leading the way with a 9.625. UW-Eau Claire finished with a total score of 189.250, securing first place out of two teams.

The Blugold will head to Western Michigan Sunday, February 1st to face the Broncos for their next meet.
