UWEC women place fourth at nationals to cap historic weekend

GENEVA, Ohio — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's track and field team capped its 2025 campaign with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships on Saturday at SPIRE Institute.

It was the second-highest finish at nationals in program history, ranking only behind a national runner-up performance in 2015. It matched their fourth-place finish in 2009.

The Blugolds tallied a team score of 34, their highest total at the NCAA Outdoor Championships since 2015. MIT won the meet with a score of 56.

Every Blugold woman who competed on Saturday finished on the podium. UW-Eau Claire tallied four All-America honors on the final day of the meet. Two of those came in hammer throw, where Teagan Jones (Sr. – Lake Zurich, Ill.) placed sixth and Kayla Behnke (Sr. – Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) took eighth. Jones had a long throw of 54.20 meters and Behnke was close behind at 52.16 meters.

The Blugolds also got on the podium in two relay events. The 4x100-meter relay of Hope Schueller (So. – St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral), Allyson Kakes (So. – Two Rivers, Wis.), Kylee Grabarski (Jr. – Waunakee, Wis.) and Sophia Crespo (So. – Prior Lake, Minn.) placed eighth to earn All-America status. They clocked in at 46.56 seconds.

The 4x400-meter relay of Emilee Booker (Sr. – Genoa City, Wis./Badger), Mya Cinnamo (So. – Rosemount, Minn.), McKenzie Kruse (Fr. – Spring Green, Wis./River Valley) and Grabarski took seventh to secure All-America honors. They posted a season-best time in their final race of the year at 3:45.60.

Across the three-day meet, the Blugold women finished with eight first team All-America performances.
