RIVER FALLS, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's lacrosse team defeated UW-River Falls 17-12 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Wednesday night at Ramer Field. The Blugolds led from start to finish in the WIAC victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-Eau Claire (6-4, 3-1) got five points apiece from Jess Stiller (So. - Evergreen, Colo.) and Paige Kiani (So. - New Brighton, Minn./Irondale) as it picked up a third consecutive win.
- The Blugolds scored four of the game's first five goals and never looked back. They led 4-2 at the end of the first quarter.
- UW-Eau Claire's lead grew to four on two separate occasions in the second quarter. Stiller scored three goals in the space of six minutes during the period, and she added a fourth in the final minute of the half. The Blugolds led 9-5 at halftime.
- The Falcons (9-5, 3-3) pulled within one of the lead at 10-9 with three and a half minutes left in the third quarter and trailed 12-10 entering the fourth.
- The Blugolds iced the game away by scoring four of the final five goals of the contest. Kiani scored twice in that stretch.
- Alexandria Shea (Sr. - Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Indian Trail) had eight saves in net to earn the win.
- Alexie Romanelli (Sr. - Naperville, Ill./Central) and Devon Crews (Jr. - St. Louis, Mo./Rockwood Summit) had three points apiece. Reegan Werner (Jr. - Farmington, Minn.) had six caused turnovers, six draw controls and five ground balls.

The Blugolds are back at home on Saturday, April 12. They host Southwestern University for a WIAC contest at 1 p.m. at the Sonnentag Fieldhouse.
