EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's lacrosse team broke its program scoring record for the second time in a week with a 30-8 victory over Southwestern University on Saturday at the Sonnentag Fieldhouse. The Blugolds scored 27 goals against Augsburg on April 5 to break the single-game record, and followed up with another record-setting performance a week later against the Pirates in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play.
Devon Crews (Jr. - St. Louis, Mo./Rockwood Summit) became the fifth player in program history to hit the 100-point milestone for a career. She tallied six points on Saturday to hit the milestone.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-Eau Claire (7-4, 4-1) scored nine times apiece in the first and second quarters and never looked back. The Blugolds led 18-5 at halftime.
- The Blugolds scored six of the first seven goals in the game.
- Jess Stiller (So. - Evergreen, Colo.) scored five goals in the first half, and Victoria Shea (So. - Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Indian Trail) added four of her own by the break.
- At one point across the second and third quarters, the Blugolds scored 10 unanswered goals. After the Pirates (1-12, 0-5) scored to break the streak, UW-Eau Claire responded with eight more goals.
- Stiller led the Blugolds with nine points. Paige Kiani (So. - New Brighton, Minn./Irondale) added eight points, and Shea finished with seven. Shea led the team with six goals and Kiani scored five.
- Kiani also tied the program record with 10 draw controls. Reegan Werner (Jr. - Farmington, Minn.) had seven ground balls and caused three turnovers.
- Seven different Blugolds scored multiple goals.
- Alexandria Shea (Sr. - Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Indian Trail) and Bella Jones (So. - Neenah, Wis.) teamed up to make three saves in net.

The Blugolds are back in action on Monday, April 14, when they visit the College of Saint Benedict for a WIAC matchup. Game time is 5 p.m.
