EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's track and field teams hosted the Dick & Mary Johnson Invitational on Saturday at Simpson Field. In the third edition of their home meet, the Blugolds produced several winners from the comforts of home.
Among the highlights for the Blugolds:
Tommy Mestnik (Sr. - Prior Lake, Minn.) set a new meet record in the men's javelin throw with a heave of 58.88 meters, while
Emma Gruen (Sr. - Elroy, Wis./Royall) set a new meet record in women's long jump with a 5.55-meter leap.

Drake Relays
The Blugolds also had several athletes wrap up their time at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday. The women's 4x100-meter relay team took fifth place in the college division. The men's and women's 4x400-meter relays and the men's 4x100 all finished sixth. The Blugolds also had several throwers in action, with an eighth-place finish from
Teagan Jones (Sr. - Lake Zurich, Ill.) in the women's hammer throw championship serving as the top placement.

The Blugolds will compete at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships on May 2-3 in Oshkosh.
