EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's tennis team blanked Hamline 7-0 on Saturday at the John & Fay Menard YMCA Tennis Center. The Blugolds won two of three doubles matches and swept all six singles matches to claim the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blugolds won the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches, with Sam Murillo (So. - Minneapolis, Minn./Coon Rapids) and Pablo Rincón (So. - Bogotá, Colombia) winning 6-3 at No. 2 while Andrew Mueller (Sr. - Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Otto Schluter (Sr. - Henfield, England) prevailed 6-3 at No. 3.
- UW-Eau Claire won all six singles matches in straight sets.
- Ethan Wurtzel (Sr. - Menomonie, Wis.) won the No. 1 match 7-5, 6-2. Rincón won the No. 2 match 6-1, 6-2. Schluter took the No. 3 match 6-3, 6-2. Billy Hughes (Fr. - Trowbridge, England) prevailed 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4. Murillo won 6-0, 7-5 in the No. 5 match, and Ethan Leeser (Jr. - Rochester, Minn./Lourdes) won the No. 6 match 6-1, 7-6 (5).
