STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's lacrosse team defeated UW-Stevens Point 23-3 in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) contest on Wednesday at the UWSP Turf Facility. The Blugolds had five players score three goals or more in the rout, giving them their fifth win in their last six games.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blugolds (8-5, 5-2) scored 10 times in the first quarter and led from start to finish.
- UW-Eau Claire tacked on seven more goals while holding the Pointers (2-12, 1-5) scoreless in the second quarter to build a 17-2 halftime lead.
- The Blugolds also shut out the Pointers in the fourth quarter.
- Reegan Werner (Jr. - Farmington, Minn.) and Ellie Fisher (So. - Stillwater, Minn.) shared the team high with six points apiece. Both players scored four goals and passed two assists.
- Devon Crews (Jr. - St. Louis, Mo./Rockwood Summit) added four goals and one assist. Jess Stiller (So. - Evergreen, Colo.) had three goals and one assist, and Alexie Romanelli (Sr. - Naperville, Ill./Central) added three goals. Paige Kiani (So. - New Brighton, Minn./Irondale) had one goal and three assists.
- Alexandria Shea (Sr. - Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Indian Trail) had five saves in net and Bella Jones (So. - Neenah, Wis.) added three. Both goalies played 30 minutes.
- The Blugolds out-shot the Pointers 45-12. UW-Eau Claire went 20-for-23 on clear attempts and won 21 of 29 draw controls.
