LA CROSSE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team placed sixth at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship/NCGA West Regional on Saturday at Mitchell Hall. The Blugolds scored a 189.250 at their final team event of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blugolds scored a 48.075 on the vault, a 46.200 on the uneven bars, 47.500 on the balance beam and 47.475 in the floor exercise.
- Ella Montgomery (Fr. - Edina, Minn.) earned All-WIAC honors on the balance beam by placing third individually. She scored a 9.775 to lead the Blugolds.
- Cadence Cordova (So. - Boise, Idaho/Renaissance) tied for eighth with a 9.750 on the vault to lead UW-Eau Claire.
- Ava Obermoller (Jr. - Hawley, Minn.) tallied a 9.325 on the uneven bars. She was the top Blugold scorer in the event.
- Emily Leese (So. - Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) and Kelsey Donovan (Sr. - Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard East) tied for 27th in the floor exercise. They posted matching 9.650s.
- Meghan Dahlin (So. - Holland, Mich.) tied for 15th on the beam with a 9.625.
- Harriet Toth (Sr. - Regina, Saskatchewan/Martin) was selected as the Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete. Donovan was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
UP NEXT
The qualifiers for the NCGA National Championships will be held March 22 in Saint Peter, Minnesota. The competition will begin at 2 p.m. The qualifiers for the championships will be announced in the coming days.
