WHITEWATER, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team dropped a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual to UW-Whitewater 193.750-189.575 on Saturday. The Blugolds rode standout performances to the second-best team score in program history, tying a mark set in the 2024 season. They came about one point shy of breaking the school's scoring record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blugolds won the balance beam with a score of 48.075. Linnea Vasali (So. - York, Pa./Central York) scored a 9.725 to win the event for UW-Eau Claire. Her score tied for the fourth-highest mark in program history. The Blugolds also got a 9.700 from Hareet Gehlon (Fr. - Brampton, Ontario/Silverthorn Collegiate Institute) and 9.550s from Meghan Dahlin (So. - Holly, Mich.), Ella Montgomery (Fr. - Edina, Minn.) and Madison Daly (So. - Las Vegas, Nev./Palo Verde).
- UW-Eau Claire scored a 47.400 on the vault, 47.025 on the uneven bars and 47.075 in the floor exercise.
- Amy Fridley (So. - Dickinson, N.D.) and Cadence Cordova (So. - Boise, Idaho/Renaissance) scored 9.600s on the vault to lead UW-Eau Claire.
- Cordova's 9.525 on the uneven bars was the team's top score in that event.
- Kelsey Donovan (Sr. - Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard East) scored a 9.675 on the floor to lead the Blugolds.
