EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team defeated Winona State 186.075-185.425 on Friday at the McPhee Center. The Blugolds won two of four events and were consistent across the board to earn a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-Eau Claire won the uneven bars and balance beam. The Blugolds posted a score of 46.425 on the bars and 47.125 on the beam.
- Madison Daly (So. - Las Vegas, Nev./Palo Verde) was the top Blugold on the bars, scoring a 9.425 to earn second place. Ella Montgomery (Fr. - Edina, Minn.) and Rachel Hettiarachchy (Jr. - Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park) both tied for third with matching 9.375s.
- Linnea Vasali (So. - York, Pa./Central York) took second place on the beam with a 9.525. Montgomery was third at 9.500.
- The Blugolds scored a 46.900 in the floor exercise and a 45.625 on the vault.
- Anna Preussner (So. - Johnsburg, Ill./Lyons Township) and Emily Leese (So. - Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) tied for second on the floor. Both gymnasts scored a 9.500.
- Hettiarachchy was the top Blugold on the vault with a 9.350. That was good for fourth place.

The Blugolds will be back at home for the final time this season when they host Hamline on Friday, February 21. Start time is 6 p.m., and the team will host Senior Night.
