EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's tennis team defeated Bethel (Minn.) 6-1 on Friday at the John & Fay Menard YMCA Tennis Center. The Blugolds won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches to clinch the dual and remain unbeaten.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-Eau Claire (2-0) started off the dual by winning two of the three doubles matches to take the single team point that was up for grabs. Juan Gallego (So. - Madison, Wis./Memorial) and Ethan Wurtzel (Sr. - Menomonie, Wis.) won the top doubles match 6-4, and Ethan Leeser (Jr. - Rochester, Minn./Lourdes) and Otto Schluter (Sr. - Henfield, England) won at No. 3 6-0.
- The Blugolds won singles matches in the top three flights and at Nos. 5 and 6.
- Wurtzel, Pablo Rincón (So. - Bogotá, Colombia), Schluter, Billy Hughes (Fr. - Trowbridge, England) and Leeser all won singles matches in straight sets.
