MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Milwaukee School of Engineering played to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday at Viets Field. The Blugolds' lone goal came in the 71st minute of the second half, leveling the score after the Raiders initially took the lead in the 55th. Despite 13 shots, including three on target, UW-Eau Claire could not convert a potential game-winner on Tuesday evening.
The first half opened with the Blugolds establishing a solid offensive presence, evidenced by multiple shots on target and several corner kicks.
Ramzi Ouro,
Andrew Phillips, and
Aiden Judickas each attempted to break through but were unable to convert.
Elijah Post and
Noah Malcook maintained the pressure with additional shots midway through the half. Despite the offensive efforts, the half concluded scoreless as both defenses held firm.
Charlie Mroz in goal for UWEC successfully kept the Raiders from gaining any advantage, with the score remaining 0-0 at the end of the first half.
The second half commenced with the Blugolds on the attack, as
Krystof Cicha recorded an early shot that went wide. Despite the offensive pressure, MSOE capitalized first, scoring in the 55th minute to take the lead. UW-Eau Claire responded in the 71st minute when Ouro converted a penalty kick to equalize the score. The half continued with both teams exchanging attempts, as
Carmelo Kasim and
Carson Kowalski tested the Raiders' goalkeeper while the defense held firm to maintain the tie. The match saw heightened tension marked by multiple fouls and yellow cards on both sides. The period concluded with the score level at 1-1, maintaining the suspense into the final moments.
Ouro scored one goal, converting his only shot on goal. Kowalski registered three shots, with one on target, to lead the Blugolds in attempts. Mroz played the full 90 minutes in goal, facing four shots and allowing one goal.
UW-Eau Claire holds a record of 9-2-3 overall and the Raiders stand at 10-4-3 overall.
In their next game, the Blugolds will host UW-Whitewater on October 25 with kickoff at 7 p.m. at Simpson Field in Eau Claire, Wis. UWEC will celebrate Senior Day and Alumni Day during their final regualr season home game of the year.
