SAINT PETER, Minn. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team fell to Gustavus Adolphus College 184.225-181.825 in its season opener on Saturday. The Blugolds got a pair of individual event victories, but the Golden Gusties ultimately prevailed in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opener for both teams.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Harriet Toth (Sr. - Regina, Saskatchwan/Martin) won the uneven bars with a score of 9.350. She also won the floor exercise with a 9.500.
- Toth went on to finish second in the all around with a 37.300.
- Meghan Dahlin (So. - Holly, Mich.) placed second on the balance beam with a 9.475.
- Rachel Hettiarachchy (Jr. - Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park) was third on the uneven bars with a 9.150.
- Cadence Cordova (So. - Boise, Idaho/Renaissance) placed third on the vault with a 9.450.
- The Golden Gusties posted the higher team score in all four events to clinch the dual.
UP NEXT
The Blugolds head to Muncie, Indiana, on Sunday, January 12 for a quad at Ball State University. They'll compete against Ball State, Illinois and Southeast Missouri State. The meet is scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern.
