Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

A strong effort defensively and in goal earn Men's Soccer a draw with North Park

CHICAGO, Ill. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team hit the road for the first time this season for a nonconference matchup with North Park University. The Blugolds and Vikings found their chances to put the ball in the back of the net, but stellar goalkeeping on both sides found both squads ending the game in a 0-0 draw.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Spencer Banks (Sr. - Stevens Point, Wis.) stopped all four shots he faced to earn his first shutout of the season. Banks is now 1-0-1 on the year.
  • Nathan Donovan (Sr. – Hazel Green, Wis.), Carson Kowalski (Jr. – Mundelein, Wis.), Carter Thiesfeld (Sr. – Forest Lake, Minn.), and Carmelo Kasim (So. – Seattle, Wash.) each recorded one shot on goal.
  • The Blugold defense stood strong with their keeper and allowed only four of the twelve North Park shots to find their way on net.
  • A physical game between the two sides saw eight combined yellow cards and 24 combined fouls.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Blugolds (2-0-1) will remain in Illinois for their second nonconference game of the weekend on Sunday, September 8th against Aurora University. Kick off from Holmgren Athletic Complex is scheduled for 2 p.m.
