NORTHFIELD, Minn. (blugolds.com) – The 10
th ranked University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team was on the road Wednesday facing a familiar opponent in the Southwestern portion of Minnesota. Despite finding the games first goal in the opening 23 minutes, the Blugolds conceded three goals in the second half as St. Olaf handed UWEC their first loss of the season, 4-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Noah Malcook (So. – Fitchburg, Wis.) got things started for UWEC in the 22nd minute after driving into the box with the ball and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner for the early 1-0 lead. Carter Thiesfeld (Sr. – Forest Lake, Minn.) earned the lone assist on Malcook's first goal of the season.
- Two penalty kick goals by the Oles in the 44th and 47th minute brought UWEC their first deficit of the afternoon. The Oles added a third goal in the 81st minute
- Owen Williams (Jr. – Stevens Point, Wis.) had the other Eau Claire goal during the contest off a cross from the outside and header to the far post.

The Blugolds (6-1-2) will return to Eau Claire for a home match on Saturday, September 28
th when they host Augsburg University at Simpson Field. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
