VERONA, Wis. (blugolds.com) -- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's lacrosse team ran its win streak to six by defeating Edgewood College 16-4 on Saturday at Reddan Park.
Lily Zygowicz (So. - Lafayette, Colo./Centaurus) set a new program record for single-season assists by dishing four on Saturday, raising her season total to 25. The previous season record was 22, set by
Riley Domagala in 2022.
Zygowicz is also the Blugolds' career record holder with 46 assists and counting.
Jess Stiller (Fr. - Evergreen, Colo.) scored a career-high five goals to pace the Blugolds, who have not lost since March 2.Â
Devon Crews (So. - St. Louis, Mo./Rockwood Summit) added four goals for the Blugolds (6-1), who pulled away across the second and third quarters.
Alexandria Shea (Jr. - Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail) made 13 saves in net and has now held opponents to fewer than 10 goals in four of her seven games.
UW-Eau Claire led 2-1 after the first quarter but started adding to the cushion in the second quarter, where they outscored the Eagles (4-6) 5-1. Stiller scored back-to-back goals in the second period as the Blugolds built a 7-2 lead at halftime.
Stiller added three more goals in the third quarter and Crews tacked on two of her own as the Blugolds' lead ballooned to 14-3 entering the final period. With how well UW-Eau Claire defended, it was more than enough to seal a victory.
Stiller, Crews and
Reegan Werner (So. - Farmington, Minn.) all had five points apiece.
Raegan Valois (So. - Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) added three points to the tally.
Werner tallied six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Samantha Burns (Jr. - Mahtomedi, Minn.) also had three caused turnovers.
UW-Eau Claire successfully cleared 18 of 24 tries. The Blugolds doubled up the Eagles in ground balls 32-16.
The Blugolds return to action on Wednesday, April 3 with a road game at Carthage College. Game time is 7 p.m. in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
