ALBION, Mich. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's lacrosse team defeated Albion 17-7 on Monday to run its win streak to four. The Blugolds rode another strong defensive showing to improve to 4-1 this season.
Reegan Werner (So. - Farmington, Minn.) scored five goals to lead the Blugolds, while
Samantha Burns (Jr. - Mahtomedi, Minn.),
Devon Crews (So. - St. Louis, Mo./Rockwood Summit) and

Alexandria Shea (Jr. - Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail) made eight saves in net for UW-Eau Claire. The Blugolds held the Britons to three goals or fewer in every quarter.
The Blugolds trailed early though. Werner scored the opening goal, but Albion responded with a pair of scores to take a 2-1 lead. Werner and
Paige Kiani (Fr. - New Brighton, Minn./Irondale) got UW-Eau Claire back in front with back-to-back goals, but the Britons tied it up at 3 in the final two minutes of the first quarter. However, Crews' goal with 1:06 left put the Blugolds ahead for good and started a run of five straight goals for UW-Eau Claire. Five different players scored in that stretch.
Albion pulled within four goals of the lead late in the third quarter, but the Blugolds pulled away in the fourth. They scored six times to put the game out of reach, with three of those goals coming from Werner.
