EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (
www.blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team held their final regular season meet at home on Friday. With Hamline University in town, the Blugolds looked to continue their stellar string of performances after breaking the team score school record twice in the previous weeks. The Blugolds might not have broken the school record for a third week in a row, but they put on quite the show with top placements in every event and earned the 186.175-179.800 to close out the regular season.
Harriet Toth (Jr. – Regina, Saskatchewan/Martin) started the night on the right foot for UW-Eau Claire with a first-place finish on the vault. Toth's 9.400 was followed by a second-place finish from
Addie Gallun (Fr. – Milwaukee, Wis./Whitefish Bay) who recorded a 9.375. Rounding out the top five for the Blugolds was
Ava Obermoller (So. – Hawley, Minn.),
Emily Leese (Fr. – Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest), and
Cadence Cordova (Fr. – Boise, Idaho/Renaissance) who all tied for fourth place with a trio of 9.300's.
On the bars, the Blugolds took control of the evening with the top four scores of the night.
Tia Ravara (Sr. – San Leandro, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) was crowned the meet champion with a first-place finish of 9.175.
Harriet Toth and
Molly Campbell (So. – Lincoln, Neb./Northeast) took second and third place as Toth recorded a 9.150 and Campbell scored a 9.075. Brooklyn Einck (So. – Olathe, Kan./Blue Valley West) capped off the top-4 for UWEC with an 8.750
Meghan Dahlin (Fr. – Holly, Mich.) earned the top spot on the beam with a 9.650 as Eau Claire continued to dominate all night long.
Harriet Toth and
Georgia Guynn (So. – Dallas, Texas/Plano East) helped round out the top four as Toth added a 9.350 and Guynn scored a 9.300 as Toth finished third and Guynn fourth.
To cap off the night, four Blugolds record scores on the floor higher than 9.600 to seal the 6.375 win as
Andrea O'Connell (_) placed first with a 9.725.
Molly Campbell and
Addie Gallun tied for second place with a pair of 9.650's and
Emily Leese finished third with a 9.625.
Harriet Toth was the lone all-around competitor and scored 37.475 points during the Blugold victory.
The Blugolds will gear up for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships and National College Gymnastics Association West Regional on Saturday, March 9
th in Saint Paul, Minn. First rotations are set for 2 p.m. at Hamline University's Walker Fieldhouse.
