EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (
www.blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team was back at home on Friday evening as they hosted Simpson College for a nonconference dual. UW-Eau Claire was victorious in three of the four rotations as they earned their second highest team score of the season with the 187.300-183.100 victory.
Harriet Toth (Jr. – Regina, Saskatchewan/Martin) held a superstar performance during the evening dual as she placed top-5 in every rotation. Starting on the vault, Toth recorded the highest UWEC score with a 9.525 that was good enough for second place.
Ava Obermoller (So. – Hawley, Minn.) and
Emily Leese (Fr. – Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) were close behind with third and fourth place finishes as Obermoller posted a 9.475 and Leese earned a 9.450. Eau Claire took an early lead after the opening events with a 47.150 team score on the vault.
In the second rotation, the Blugolds kept their consistency by recording the top-4 scores of the night.
Tia Ravara (Sr. – San Leandro, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) was crowned uneven bars champion with a 9.625, while
Rachel Hettiarachchy (So. – Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park) and Brooklyn Einck (So. – Olathe, Kan./Blue Valley West) slotted into second and third place.
Harriet Toth rounded out the top-4 with a 9.225 as the Blugolds took a 93.675-90.800 lead at the halfway mark of the night.
On the balance beam,
Meghan Dahlin (Fr. – Holly, Mich.) recorded the top UWEC score with a 9.675 and a second-place finish.
Molly Campbell (So. – Lincoln, Neb./Northeast) earned a third-place finish with a 9.650 and Toth hit a 9.500 for fifth place as Eau Claire continued to dominate the evening.
During the final rotation,
Andrea O'Connell (Jr. – Blue Mounds, Wis./Mount Horeb) led the way with a 9.600 and was crowned champion of the floor routines.
Molly Campbell tied for second place with a 9.550 as she continued her run at an All-Around finish. Toth finished in fourth place and
Kelsey Donovan (Sr. – Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard East) tied for seventh with a 9.250 as the Blugolds secured their 187.300-183.100 win at home.
Among the All-Around competitors,
Harriet Toth finished first with a 37.750 and
Molly Campbell finished second with a 37.100 during their four events.
The Blugolds will be back at home on Friday, February 16
th when they host UW-Oshkosh. First rotations are set to begin at 6 p.m. in the McPhee Gymnasium.
