Gymnastics sets school record on Alumni NIght

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (www.blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team was in the McPhee Gymnasium on Friday for another Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual with UW-Oshkosh in town. As the Blugolds celebrated Alumni Night, UWEC posted the program's second highest team score on the beam and set a program record for team total 189.575 points.
 
UW-Eau Claire began the night on the vault and was led by Harriet Toth (Jr. – Regina, Saskatchewan/Martin) and Emily Leese (Fr. – Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) who placed 5th and 6th respectively, as Toth earned a 9.525 and Leese scored a 9.475. On the bars, Tia Ravara (Sr. – San Leandro, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) held the UWEC high score with a 9.575 and a tie for 5th place.
 
The Blugolds performed well on the balance beam as they recorded the second highest beam score in program history with a 47.825. Linnea Vasali (Fr. – York, Pa./Central York) and Meghan Dahlin (Fr. – Holly, Mich.) were the top Blugold performers as the duo tied for fifth with a pair of 9.700's. Harriet Toth also scored above a 9.5 as she placed 9th with a 9.550. Georgia Guynn (So. – Dallas, Texas/Plano East) and Tia Ravara also contributed to UWEC's historic event score as Guynn recorded a 9.475 and Ravara scored a 9.400.
 
To finish the night, Andrea O'Connell (Jr. – Blue Mounds, Wis./Mount Horeb) was crowned floor champion as she scored a 9.800 and tied for first place. Harriet Toth finished 3rd with a 9.775 and Addie Gallun (Fr. – Milwaukee, Wis./Whitefish Bay) finished tied for 7th with a 9.700. Emily Leese and Kelsey Donovan (Sr. – Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard East) rounded out Eau Claire's score with a pair of 9.250's to help set the school record of 189.575 points.
 
Amongst the All-Around competitors, Harriet Toth finished second with a 38.250 and Molly Campbell (So. – Lincoln, Neb./Northeast) finished third with a 35.775 during their four events.
 
The Blugolds will have more than a full week off before jumping back on the mats as they travel to Dekalb, Ill. on Sunday, February 25th for a nonconference meet at Northern Illinois University. First rotations are scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Convocation Center on NIU's campus.
