PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire football team fell to No. 8/9 UW-Platteville 56-14 on Saturday at Pioneer Stadium.
Harry Roubidoux (Sr. – Winneconne, Wis.) became UW-Eau Claire's all-time leader in career completions, but the Blugolds ultimately couldn't keep pace with the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC)-leading Pioneers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Roubidoux completed 16 of 23 passes to bring his career total to 653 completions. That broke the 34-year old mark of 645 set by John Clark from 1987-90.
- The Pioneers scored the first 21 points of the game, finding the end zone twice in the first quarter and again early in the second. The Blugolds broke through on a two-yard touchdown run by Jacob Donohue (So. – Grayslake, Ill./Grayslake North) at the 9:39 mark of the second quarter, slashing the deficit to 21-7.
- UW-Platteville pulled away from there, throwing five consecutive touchdown passes between the eight-minute mark of the second quarter and the 13:37 mark of the third. It stretched the Pioneers' lead to 56-7.
- Roubidoux connected with Isaac Garside (Sr. – Bonduel, Wis.) for a four-yard touchdown pass with 7:27 left in the third quarter. Neither team scored again.
- Roubidoux finished with 198 yards passing. Sam Schradle (Jr. – Cumberland, Wis.) rushed for 41 yards on nine carries to lead the ground game. Garside had four catches for 50 yards, and Nolan Stans (Sr. – Spring Valley, Wis.) had three receptions for 50 yards.
- Brady Hoffner (Jr. – Mankato, Minn./East) had six tackles and a forced fumble to lead the defense. JP Wolterstorff (Sr. – Eau Claire, Wis./Regis) also had six tackles.
- The Pioneers outgained the Blugolds 577-347 in total yardage.
