EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire football team dropped its season finale to UW-Whitewater 48-7 on Saturday at Carson Park.
Isaac Garside (Sr. - Bonduel, Wis.) broke another school record in the defeat, becoming the Blugolds' all-time leader in career receiving yards as the team celebrated Senior Day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Garside nabbed 11 receptions for 101 yards, bringing his career totals to 195 catches and 2,386 yards. It was enough to surpass David Goodman's Blugold record of 2,348 career receiving yards, set from 2008-11. Garside finishes his career as the Blugolds' all-time leader in both receptions and receiving yards.
- UW-Whitewater scored the first 34 points of the game. The Blugolds had their chances early on, but came up empty each time.
- UW-Eau Claire (2-8, 1-6) marched to the Warhawks' 7-yard line trailing 3-0 to start the second quarter, but UW-Whitewater came up with an interception to stop the threat. The Blugolds also strung together two other long drives, but both came up empty.
- UW-Whitewater used that momentum to pull away. They scored two touchdowns and a field goal in the second quarter to enter halftime with a 20-0 lead.
- The Warhawks added two more rushing touchdowns in the third quarter, and two more in the fourth.
- Harry Roubidoux (Sr. - Winneconne, Wis.) threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Trey Fitzgerald (Sr. - Mosinee, Wis.) with 14:57 left in the fourth quarter to account for the Blugolds' sole touchdown.
- Roubidoux completed 30 of 38 passes for 236 yards. Franko Williams (So. - Waukesha, Wis./North) had five receptions for 42 yards. Yaach Chuol (Jr. - Coon Rapids, Minn./Centennial) added four catches for 40 yards.
- Walker Korish (Fr. - Turtle Lake, Wis.) led the defense with five tackles. Brady Hoffner (Jr. - Mankato, Minn./East) had four tackles and a sack.
- The Blugolds recognized 30 seniors prior to the game for their efforts and commitment to the program over the course of their careers.
