Hall's double-double leads Blugolds past Oles

NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's basketball team defeated St. Olaf College 66-56 on Tuesday at the Skoglund Athletic Center. The Blugolds pulled away in the final eight minutes for their second straight victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Cade Hall (Sr. - Mauston, Wis.) recorded his third double-double of the season, leading the Blugolds with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
  • The two teams traded leads for most of the first half, with the score tied at 29 at the break. The back-and-forth affair continued into the second half.
  • The score was 50-49 with 8:20 remaining in regulation before UW-Eau Claire began to pull away.
  • A 9-0 run gave the Blugolds a cushion from that point on. Michael Casper (Sr. - Merrill, Wis.) scored four points in that spurt to help the Blugolds build a 10-point lead with five minutes left.
  • The Oles couldn't recover from the Blugolds' swing, and the deficit didn't shrink below seven the rest of the way.
  • Andre Renta (Jr. - Hudson, Wis.) scored 13 points and added seven rebounds. Casper finished with 12 points and three assists. Carter Huschka (Sr. - Farmington, Minn.) added 10 points.
  • UW-Eau Claire (3-3) shot 43% from the field. The Blugolds out-rebounded St. Olaf (1-6) 33-28.
