SAINT PETER, Minn. (
www.blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team hit the road for the first time this season as they traveled to Southwestern Minnesota for a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual with Gustavus Adolphus College. The Blugolds held the top three placements in three of the four events as UWEC earned their first dual win of the season, 188.050-183.825.
The Blugolds started the night off on a high note as they had five Blugolds place in the top-5 of competitors on the bars. Leading the way was
Tia Ravara(Sr. – San Leandro, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) who recorded a 9.525 and the top score of the evening, and
Brooklynn Einck (So. – Olathe, Kan./Blue Valley West) who earned 2
nd place with a 9.400.
Harriet Toth (Jr. – Regina, Saskathewan/Martin) earned a third-place finish with her 9.300. Madi Daly (Fr. – Las Vegas, Nev./Palo Verde) and
Ava Obermoller (So. – Hawley, Minn.) rounded out the top-5 for UWEC with a pair of 9.275's.
On the vault,
Harriet Toth placed first with a 9.500.
Molly Campbell (So. – Lincoln, Neb./Northeast) finished in 3
rd with a 9.375.
Ava Obermoller was the next highest scoring Blugold with a 9.250 as Eau Claire led the team scoring after the second rotation, 93.275-92.05.
During the floor exercises,
Andrea O'Connell (Jr. – Blue Mounds, Wis./Mount Horeb) competed for the first time this season and put on a show for all those in attendance at the Sponberg Gymnastics Studio as she recorded a contest high 9.700.
Molly Campbell and
Kelsey Donovan (Sr. – Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard East) weren't far behind as they tied for 3
rd place with a pair of 9.600's.
Harriet Toth tied for 6
th with a 9.475 to help UWEC extend their lead to 140.5-136.3 after the third rotation.
During the final rotation, Eau Claire earned their highest event score of the night as the Blugolds totaled 47.550 points on the beam. UW-Eau Claire swept the top-6 scores with
Georgia Guynn (So. – Dallas, Texas/Plano East) and
Meghan Dahlin (Fr. – Holly, Mich.) tied for first place with a pair of 9.625's.
Tia Ravara wasn't far behind the top pairing as she earned a 9.600 with her routine.
Molly Campbell recorded a 9.425 as the Blugolds closed out the evening with a 188.050-183.825 WIAC victory.
For the All-Around competition,
Harriet Toth held the highest score out of three competitors with an evening total of 37.55 points.
The Blugolds will be back on the road on Friday, January 26
th when they travel down I-94 for a WIAC dual with UW-Stout. First events at Johnson Fieldhouse are scheduled for 6 p.m.
