CHICAGO, Ill. (blugolds.com) - 11 Blugolds traveled to the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track & Field Center at Gately Park in Chicago this past Friday for the Aurora Grand Prix. The high level meet included teams from all divisions in the NCAA, yet the Blugolds fit right in.
Sam Verkeke and
Mason Shea dominated the men's mile finishing in 1st and 2nd place with times of 4:15.91s and 4:15.97s. Their runs looked more like a jog as they surpassed the field by over 5 seconds.
The men's 4x400m took the lead early and never gave it up, crossing the line first for a time of 3:19.04s. Freshman sprinter
Jack Schreiber joined his brother,
Sam Schreiber, in the race for their first time running together in a relay since their high school years.
Colin McClowry and
Kevin Eisenzimmer rounded out the squad to put together a very nice season opener for the Blugold long sprints squad.
