ST. BONAFACIUS, Minn. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer was back on the road Thursday as they kicked off against Crown College. The Blugolds continued their offensive dominance during the first half with four goals in the opening 45 minutes of play. UW-Eau Claire added one more in the second half to earn their fourth win of the season and their fourth straight shutout, 5-0.
Nathan (Jr. – Hazel Green, Wis./Wahlert Catholic) once again wasted no time finding the back of the net as he capitalized on a Crown turnover in the tenth minute with a shot to the bottom right corner to grab an early lead. Less than 70 seconds later, the Blugolds forced a Crown turnover in the offensive zone to give themselves a chance on goal. Donovan played a give and go with
Noah Malcook (Fr. – Fitchburg, Wis./Oregon) before slotting home his second goal of the evening at 11:28.
Malcook found his first goal of the night just over 25 minutes later off a rebound from a penalty kick to extend the lead to 3-0. UW-Eau Claire kept attacking hard as Malcook found his second goal of the night just before half to bring the lead to four goals.
Telvin Vah (Gr. – Moorhead, Minn.) received the lone assist on the goal before half as the Blugolds recorded 13 of their 19 total shots in the first half.
The second half played similar to the first as Eau Claire maintained possession to find their looks on goal.
Telvin Vah found his second goal of the season in the 59th minute to seal the 5-0 victory for Eau Claire.
Spencer Banks (Jr. – Superior, Wis.) stopped the lone shot he faced in 54 minutes of play to earn his third win of the season. Banks is now 3-1-0 on the season.
Josh Bates (Jr. – Mahtomedi, Minn) recorded one save during his 36 minutes of play to help UWEC record their fifth team shutout of the year.
