ROCHESTER, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis won a close match with Grinnell Sunday, defeating the Pioneers 5-4.

Kyle Hoffmann (Jr. Franklin, Wis.) fell to Elliott Czarnecki 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 at number one singles.

At number two, Will Weyenberg (So. Neenah, Wis.) defeated Emilio Gomez 6-3, 6-3.

Andrew Rust (Fr. Golden Valley, Minn.) beat Cole Miller 6-2, 6-1 at number three singles. Michael Mauthe (So. Neenah, Wis.) fell at number four, losing to Tracy Johnson 7-6, 6-7, 6-2.

At number five singles, Conrad Felten (So. Wausau, Wis.) defeated Tommy Pitcher 7-5, 6-4 whileAndrew Dahl (Fr. Fort Atkinson, Wis.) was defeated C.J. Ray 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 at number six singles.

In doubles action, the number three team of Jordon Stevens (Jr. Woodbury, Minn.) and Mauthe came away with the victory, defeating Ray and Miller 9-7.

The Blugolds will be back in action Saturday as they travel to St. Peter, Minn. to take on Gustavus Adolphus.
