Box Score

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire football team defeated UW-Platteville today 30-14 in the team's regular season finale and in doing so broke three individual school season records.

Senior quarterback Jesse Krzyzanowski (Sr.-Thorp, WI) ended his Blugold career holding the Blugolds' single-season record for pass completions in a season with 214. The old record was 199 by John Clark that stood for 16 years. Jesse Krzyzanowski also broke the school's single-season record for pass completion percentage in a season. Jesse Krzyzanowski finished with a completion percentage of 64.7% for the season. The old record was held by Sean Hoolihan who had a completion percentage of 60.9% in 1998.

Jesse wasn't the only Krzyzanowski to break a school record on Saturday. Jesse's brother, Darin Krzyzanowski (Sr.-Thorp, WI), also ended his career as a Blugold breaking the school's single-season record for receptions in a season with 61 catches. The old record was 60 receptions by Eric Ferguson in 2003.

The Blugolds started out the game quick scoring on their opening possession when the Blugolds drove 47 yards on 10 plays before Mitch Schaeuble (So.-Wrightstown, WI) connected on a 33 yard field goal attempt to put the Blugolds up 3-0. Then following a blocked punt by the Blugolds' Chris Hull (So.-Blaine, MN/Spring Lake Park) at the Pioneer six yard line, Joe Gast (Sr.-Waconia, MN) punched it in two plays later from five yards out to give the Blugolds a 10-0 lead.

The Pioneers answered when Mike Haynes ran it in from five yards out, but the Blugolds' Sam Cummings (So.-Rochester, MN/John Marshall) blocked the Pioneers extra point attempt to make the score 10-6. The Blugolds came back and scored on the first play of the second quarter when Gast punched it in from two yards for his second rushing touchdown of the game.

The Pioneers scored on the next possession, driving 85 yards on 15 plays which included a fake punt pass completion from their own end zone. The drive was capped off on a seven yard touchdown run by Haynes. The Pioneers were successful on their two-point conversion attempt and the score at the half was 17-14 in favor of the Blugolds.

The Blugolds defense took control of the second half allowing the Pioneers to cross the 50 yard line just once in the half. On the Blugolds first possession of the second half, Schaeuble connected on a 28 yard field goal for the only points of the third quarter to make the score 20-14.

Following a Jake Siegert (So.-Onalaska, WI) interception, the Blugolds put the game away in the fourth when Jesse Krzyzanowski connected with Chris Hull for a 10 yard touchdown pass to make the score 27-14. Scheauble added a late 29 yard field goal for the game final score to make the score 30-14.
