MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — D3football.com released its Team of the Week for games of Sep. 3-4, 2026, with Jimmy McGovern representing UW-Eau Claire.

A career first for the Blugold junior, McGovern's career high afternoon on Saturday earned him a spot on D3football.com's Week 1 Team of the Week in the defensive tackle spot. It is the first Team of the Week honor for a Blugold since Austin Belot received the honor in September 2021. 

McGovern helped the Blugold defense keep Alma College to under 100 rushing yards with his team leading six solo tackles. Along with his seven total tackles on the day, McGovern added a forced fumble late in the fourth quarter, forcing Alma to punt and stifle their comeback efforts. 

The Blugolds will head on the road on Saturday, September 12 to Waukesha, Wis. and take on Carroll College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Schneider Stadium.
