COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (7-5, 5-3) fell to Colorado College (13-3, 8-0) with a final score of 22–2 on Saturday at Washburn Field.
The game commenced with
Lizzy Schoknecht and Cassidy Schnaufer as the starting goalies for UWEC and Colorado College, respectively. Colorado College took an early lead with Meilani Molina scoring the first goal at 14:13. Elsa Greene extended the advantage with a goal assisted by Charlotte Iler, making it 2–0. Despite several attempts by UW-Eau Claire, including shots by
Emerson Mattox and
Reegan Werner, Colorado College maintained control. Colorado College's offensive momentum continued as Charlotte Iler, Maddie Jenks, Ella Roe, and Oliv Janerico each contributed goals, culminating in a 7–0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
UW-Eau Claire's
Grace Schmidt scored a player-up goal at 11:21, assisted by
Victoria Shea, marking the team's only tally of the quarter. Colorado College responded strongly with a series of goals, starting with Oliv Janerico's goal at 10:01, assisted by Maddie Jenks. Elsa Greene extended the lead at 9:01, followed by Meilani Molina and Sofia Niklaus each finding the back of the net to widen the gap further. Colorado College maintained control with another goal from Janerico at 3:39, and Charlotte Iler concluded the scoring spree at 1:23 with an assist from Grace Bean. The quarter ended with Colorado College leading 13–1.
The third quarter began with neither team scoring, maintaining the tension from the earlier quarters. Both defenses held strong, preventing any changes to the scoreboard. As the quarter progressed, opportunities were limited, with both teams struggling to find the back of the net. The score remained unchanged, setting the stage for a decisive final quarter.
Colorado College dominated the fourth quarter, extending its lead significantly over the Blugolds. The quarter began with a goal by Sofia Mancino at the 14:00 mark, and Colorado College's scoring continued with contributions from Grace Bean and Charlotte Iler, who found the net consecutively at 9:35 and 9:30, respectively. Despite a goal by
Jess Stiller for UW-Eau Claire at 11:06, assisted by
Reegan Werner, Colorado College maintained its offensive pressure. Maddie Jenks added two more goals for Colorado, with her second coming at 3:30, while Meilani Molina and Paige Gerlach each scored, further widening the margin. The quarter ended with a decisive 22–2 victory for Colorado College.
