EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team opened WIAC Tournament play with a 4-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh, advancing with a strong all-around performance.
UW-Eau Claire set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to take the opening point. Reese Burton and Beatriz Felchak earned a hard-fought 7-6 (8) win at No. 1 doubles, while Delaney Hanson and Kiera Schmid added a 6-1 victory at No. 2. Stella Platt and Morgan Briggman completed the sweep at No. 3 doubles with a 7-6 (6) win, giving the Blugolds a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
The Blugolds carried that momentum into singles, securing the match with three completed victories. Hanson picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles, while Briggman followed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 6. With the team result clinched, the remaining matches at Nos. 1, 2, and 4 were abandoned, sealing the 4-0 win for UW-Eau Claire in the WIAC Tournament opener.
