ST. PAUL, MINN. - On Wednesday, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire went on the road to faced Hamline University. The game started with
Lizzy Schoknecht in goal for the Blugolds and Sophie Thompson for Hamline. After early defensive plays by both teams, Hamline's Kayli Starkey opened the scoring with a goal from a free position shot at 8:04. The Blugolds responded with a player-up goal by
Ellie Fisher at 6:48, leveling the score.
Victoria Shea then gave UW-Eau Claire the lead with a goal at 3:52. Just moments later,
Addison Moudry extended the lead to 3–1 with an assisted goal from
Grace Schmidt at 3:39. The first quarter ended with UWEC leading Hamline 3–1.
Ema Rehder opened the second quarter scoring for Hamline with a player-up goal at 13:59, assisted by Emma Collins. The Blugolds responded quickly, with
Jess Stiller equalizing at 13:29 on a goal assisted by
Reegan Werner. The period saw a series of penalties for UW-Eau Claire, but they managed to maintain momentum with back-to-back goals from Werner, who scored twice more at 8:11 and 6:24. As the period progressed, Stiller continued her impact, finding the net again at 5:11, following a player-up opportunity. Despite Hamline's efforts, including another goal from Rehder at 3:03, UW-Eau Claire ended the quarter ahead 9–6.
In the third quarter, UW-Eau Claire extended its lead with two crucial goals against Hamline. Shea found the net at 3:58, initiating a momentum shift for the Blugolds. Later, Moudry scored with an assist from
Paige Kiani at 2:42, further solidifying the team's advantage. Despite multiple attempts by Hamline, including a free position shot by Starkey, UWEC's defense, anchored by goalkeeper Schoknecht, held firm, preserving their lead with key saves throughout the period.
The Blugolds capitalized on a strong start in the fourth quarter, scoring three consecutive goals to extend their lead. Kiani initiated the scoring with a player-up goal at 13:52. This was followed by quick goals from Stiller and Fisher, both assisted by Werner, pushing the score to 14–6. Hamline attempted a comeback with goals from Aoi Suzuki and Rehder, both assisted by Reagan Zywicki, narrowing the gap to 14–8. Fisher secured UW-Eau Claire's dominance with a goal at 0:17, assisted by Shea, finalizing a decisive 16–8 victory.
Fisher led the Blugolds with four goals, converting all eight of her shots on target. Werner contributed significantly with two goals and six assists, effectively facilitating the offense. Stiller also made a strong impact, scoring four times and securing the game-winning goal. Shea added to the scoring with three goals and an assist, completing her perfect shooting day.
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has a record of 5–2, including a 3–0 mark in conference play. Hamline holds a record of 7–2 but is 0–2 in conference matchups.
