ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team earned a dominant 7-0 victory over Shippensburg University Tuesday morning at Sanlando Park. The Blugolds controlled the match from start to finish, winning both doubles and singles play.
Eau Claire opened strong in doubles, taking two of three matches to secure the early advantage. The No. 1 duo of Reese Burton and Beatriz Felchak earned a 6-4 win, while Marin Catencamp and Morgan Briggman rolled to a 6-1 victory at No. 3.
The Blugolds carried that momentum into singles, winning all six courts in straight sets. Burton led the way at No. 1 with a 6-3, 6-2 win, and Felchak followed with a victory at No. 2. At No. 3, Aubrey Wittwer secured a 6-1, 6-1 win, while Ana Paula Ricaurte (No. 4) earned a 6-2, 6-1 win and Delaney Hanson (No. 5) each a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Morgan Briggman completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6.
The Blugolds will go up against Trinity College and Webster University Wednesday, March 18 at 11:30 a.m. ET and 2:00 p.m. ET respectively.
