Orlando, Fla. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team faced off with Coe College Monday Morning, falling in the close matchup 4-3.
In doubles play against the Kohawks, the Blugolds won two of three matches.
Reese Burton &
Beatriz Felchak fell in #1 doubles 6-3, but the rest of the team picked them up with
Delaney Hanson &
Kiera Schmid winning their match 7-6, and
Morgan Briggman &
Stella Platt won their match 6-4.
Singles play for the Blugolds was close, but didn't fall in UWEC's favor. The team won two matches and lost 4.
Delaney Hanson won her match in three sets for #5 singles, and
Morgan Briggman won hers 6-1, 6-4. The rest of the field for the Blugolds fell in two sets, but played competitive matches as seen by
Aubrey Wittwer's first set tiebreaker.
The Blugolds' second match of the day against Shippensburg University was rained out Monday. The match will be made up Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. ET.
