Orlando, Fla. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team begain thier spring break trip in Orlando, Florida falling to Hamline University 2-5. The overall match was tightly contested as three of the sigles matches went to a tiebreaker.
To begin the day, the Blugolds won one of three doubles matches.
Reese Burton &
Beatriz Felchak began the day with a win, defeating hamline's number 1 doubles pair 6-3.
Delaney Hanson &
Kiera Schmid and
Marin Catencamp &
Stella Platt fell in their matches both by a score of 3-6.
In singles play, the Blugold won two of their six matches.
Reese Burton started things off for the team, winning her match in a tiebreaker in the second set while
Beatriz Felchak fell in a tiebreaker in the second set for singles number 2.
Aubrey Wittwer won both her sets 6-2, 6-3 giving the Blugolds their second singles win of the day.
Ana Paula Ricaurte fell in #4 singles taking it to three sets, 5-7, 7-5, 7-10. Delaney Hason Fell in a second set tiebreaker in #5 singles, and
Morgan Briggman 3-6, 0-6.
The Blugolds will be back in action in Florida Monday, March 16 at 11 a.m. ET against Coe College.
