LA CROSSE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's basketball team fell to UW-La Crosse (19-6, 9-5 WIAC) 101-79 on Saturday at Mitchell Hall. UW-Eau Claire trailed by five at halftime after a competitive first half but was unable to contain the Eagles' offense, which surged with a 55-point second half. The Blugolds hit 13 three-pointers, contributing to their 79-point total, which surpassed their season average of 71.0, but struggled with ball control, committing 14 turnovers compared to UW-La Crosse's three.
The first half began with a jumper giving La Crosse an early lead, which was swiftly answered by
Carter Lichtsinn for UWEC. The half saw a dynamic exchange of scoring, highlighted by
Andre Renta's consistent shooting, including a crucial 3-pointer at the 10:26 mark to narrow the gap to four points. Renta's performance was remarkable as he scored a career high 30 points, far exceeding his season average of 12.96. UWL maintained a slight edge, thanks in part to a block and two key free throws to close the half. The home team carried a 46-41 lead into the break.
In the second half, La Crosse extended its lead over UWEC with a strong offensive performance, culminating in a 101-79 victory. UW-La Crosse found momentum early, hitting key three-pointers at the 19:20 and 8:24 marks. The Blugolds struggled with turnovers, resulting in 15 points off turnovers for their opponent.
Andre Renta led UWEC's scoring efforts with multiple successful shots, but it wasn't enough to close the gap.

Tyler Haney added 10 points with three 3-pointers and contributed one steal.
Luke Reder finished with a season-high 13 points, hitting three shots from beyond the arc, and collected three rebounds. This performance greatly exceeded his season average of 4.54 points.
Joey Butz converted both attempts from long range, contributing six points and adding two assists. Additionally, UW-Eau Claire totaled 34 rebounds, surpassing their season average of 28.56.
The Blugolds finish their season with an overall record of 14-11 and a 3-11 WIAC record. UWEC miss the WIAC postseason tournament for the first time in head coach
