Izzy Grace of Volleyball has been selected as UW-Eau Claire Athletics' Blugold of the Week presented by BSN Sports/Nike.
Year: Senior
Hometown:Â Green Bay, Wis.
Major(s)/Minor(s):Â Biology/Psychology and Pre-professional health sciences
Why did you choose Eau Claire?
"I chose Eau Claire because it is such a welcoming environment and the campus is beautiful. Being in a pre-health discipline there are also tons of opportunities for students to get connected and begin networking. I also really appreciated the small class sizes because I value connection with my peers and my professors, and it has really contributed to my success and well-being."
Are you involved in any clubs/organizations on campus?
"I have a work-study job at the MSPC and I am a Biology lab TA."
How do you balance being a student-athlete?
"Being a student-athlete can be tricky and it requires a lot of trial and error, especially during the first year of being on campus and truly being independent. I've been able to utilize travel time on busses to complete most of my homework as well as working in the weight room at McPhee. I also take advantage of office hours with my professors if I don't understand something. It really helps my comprehension and helps my professors get to know me as an individual. Also, not being afraid to reach out to classmates for study-groups or notes when missing for travel is another tool to help you stay engaged with the material and may just introduce you to some new friends."
What moment in your athletic career at UW-Eau Claire are you most proud of?
"I have two moments. The first being our win against Whitewater in 2025 when they were ranked #1 in the country. It was such a cool environment to see all the student-athlete and community support and was definitely a momentum-builder in our success that night, and for the season. The next was making it to the elite eight back in 2025, and really being able to contribute to the history and legacy of the program."
What is your favorite pre/post competition snack?
"I love a good PB&J before practice and games!"
Do you have any unique/hidden talents?
"I can juggle like a circus clown!"
What is your dream job?
"Dermatology PA"
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
"Germany during Christmas time"
If you could spend the day with one professional athlete/celebrity, who would it be?
"I would love to spend the day with the Milwaukee Brewers!"
What advice do you have for current/incoming Blugold student-athlete?
"My advice would be to have an open mind. It can be really easy to be set in your ways once you get to college but there is so much opportunity and room for growth. It is okay to be uncomfortable because that is one of the biggest ways for us to learn and navigate life. There is so much support within athletic programs and campus resources to help you be successful, so don't be afraid to ask for help."
