EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — UW-Eau Claire and Augsburg played to a 3-3 tie on Tuesday at Simpson Field. The Blugolds scored twice in the first half and once after halftime, while Augsburg had one goal before the break and two in the second half. UW-Eau Claire put eight of its 20 shots on goal, and its goalkeeper made seven saves as Augsburg finished with 22 shots and 10 on goal.
UW-Eau Claire took six shots by 9:41 before
Brady Stamp scored at 10:49 from
Ramzi Ouro and
Owen Backus to make it 1-0. Augsburg answered in the 24th minute through Caleb Ibarra, while
Charlie Mroz finished the half with saves on Asher Johnson and Gio Casias. The Blugolds continued to generate chances after the equalizer, with
Ashton Johnston putting a shot on goal at 43:26 before
Kyron Pope put the Blugolds in front late in the first half, scoring at 44:10 off assists from
Colin Mandernach and
Carmelo Kasim for a 2-1 advantage.
Ouro gave the Blugolds a 3-2 lead at 74:25, finishing a Mandernach assist shortly after Augsburg had tied the match. Earlier, UW-Eau Claire created chances through an
Aiden Judickas shot, a corner kick and
Baylor Denu's team-saved effort, then absorbed a stretch of Augsburg attacks while Mroz made saves in the 67th and 69th minutes. Augsburg answered again at 77:14 to make it 3-3, and the Blugolds had to defend another late push that included two
Payton Douglas saves and four Augsburg corner kicks from 83:12 to 85:24. UWEC still had late chances of its own, with Ouro and Mandernach each putting shots on goal before the match finished tied 3-3.
Stamp scored and led the Blugolds with five shots, putting two on goal. Ouro recorded a goal and an assist for three points while taking four shots, including two on frame. Mandernach tallied two assists and put his lone shot on goal. Pope added a goal on two shots.
UW-Eau Claire moves to 5-2-4 overall and 0-0-1 WIAC play. Augsburg is 3-1-6 overall and 2-1-2 in the MIAC.
