OSHKOSH, Wis. — UW-Eau Claire tied UW-Oshkosh 0-0 on Saturday at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. The Blugolds kept the match scoreless through a late second-half stretch, surviving four Titans attacking actions from 77:46 to 84:35. The Blugolds recorded the shutout despite the Titans holding a 15-9 shot advantage and a 6-2 edge in shots on goal.
An early attacking push and enough defensive work helped the Blugolds reach halftime scoreless.
Bella Jones made a save in the opening minute, and the Blugolds answered with shots from
Olivia Lukrafka Varassin,
Emma Donovan and
Abby Beal plus a corner kick between 2:04 and 3:57. The Titans later generated pressure with corners at 9:25 and 20:37, but Jones stopped Addie Wreath's shot during that stretch while the Blugolds also got a corner from Donovan and attempts from
Jayda Swopes and
Johanna Thompson. Neither side broke through, and the first half ended 0-0.
The Blugolds held the Titans scoreless through a pressure-heavy second half, with Jones making four saves as the match finished 0-0. Earlier, Jones stopped shots from Shannon Walsh and Addyson Knoebel in the opening five minutes of the half, and the Blugolds later answered with a
Mikalyn Hidde attempt in the 57th minute.
Anna Lorenzana added another Blugolds shot in the 64th minute, while Jones made another save on Addie Wreath shortly after. The Blugolds played through a physical final stretch that included team yellow and red cards, then recorded a late chance when Hidde put a shot on frame in the 90th minute, but Jamaya Mariner made the save to keep the match scoreless.
Jones played all 90 minutes in goal and made six saves while posting a shutout. Hidde shared the team lead with two shots and put one attempt on goal. Donovan also finished with two shots, matching Hidde for the team high.
