NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team won the Maize race at the Running of the Cows on Saturday, placing first out of 20 teams with 95 points.
The Blugolds finished ahead of St. John's (Minn.), which placed second with 126 points.
Andrew Thaler led the Blugolds in the 8K, placing eighth overall with a time of 26:19.7. Kyle McNally followed in 14th at 26:30.9, while Sawyer Gehin placed 21st with a time of 26:45.6. Carter Quackenbush finished 24th at 26:47.8, and Daniel Lewis rounded out the Blugolds' scoring five with a 28th-place finish in 26:50.7.
Troy VerStrate placed 34th in 26:59.2, followed closely by Aidan Kyrychenko in 35th at 27:00.4.
The Blugolds return to action at the Augustana Interregional Invitational at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill., at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.
