Men's Cross Country

Blugold of the Week: Cole Bremmer

Cole Bremmer of Men's Cross Country has been selected as UW-Eau Claire Athletics' Blugold of the Week presented by BSN Sports/Nike.

Year: Junior
Hometown: Verona, Wis.
Major(s)/Minor(s): Political Science & Spanish with a Geospatial (GIS) certificate

Why did you choose Eau Claire?
"Eau Claire was always one of my top choices even before I had considered running in college. On my visits, I saw that the coaches and athletes on our XC and T&F teams have created a fun and competitive atmosphere at practice every day. Once I saw that, I knew I wanted to be a part of this team."

Are you involved in any clubs/organizations on campus?
"Currently I lead a Bible study, and I am the SAAC representative for Men's Cross Country. I also enjoyed being an RA last year!"

How do you balance being a student-athlete?
"We practice in the afternoon/evening, so I have built a habit of dedicating my mornings to class and homework. Having blocks of time in my day for academics and athletics makes it easier for me to take care of business on both fronts."

What moment in your athletic career at UW-Eau Claire are you most proud of?
"My freshman year, I became one of our top all time newcomers in the indoor 3000m after taking most of the week leading up to the race off from running due to an Achilles issue. Resilience through minor injuries has been a theme of my college career but putting my focus on controlling the controllables is a lesson I learned then, that is still my focus today."

What is your favorite pre/post competition snack?
"Pop-Tarts, Caffeine and Ibuprofen"

Do you have any unique/hidden talents?
"I'm pretty good at skipping rocks."

What is your dream job?
"City/Town Planner in a Colorado mountain town."

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
"I would ski powder in Japan with my brother and our skiing buddies."

If you could spend the day with one professional athlete/celebrity, who would it be?
"Derek Jeter"

What advice do you have for current/incoming Blugold student-athlete?
"Confidence is built by consistently showing up for yourself and controlling what you can control. Success follows confidence. I wish I could tell my freshman self to relax a little and know that if someone commits to that process, they should be happy with the outcomes and will inevitably reach their potential."
