SAINT PAUL, Minn. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (11-4-0) defeated Bethel (MN) (4-4-2), 7–0, with a commanding performance that included two power-play goals. The Blugolds' defense held strong, allowing only 18 shots on goal and maintaining a perfect penalty-free game.
The first period began with UW-Eau Claire taking control early, winning multiple faceoffs and applying offensive pressure.
Adrienne Hansen opened the scoring at 2:28 with an even-strength goal, assisted by
Ava Bullert. Hansen struck again at 14:42, doubling the lead with another goal, this time assisted by
Maddie Hulter. The Royals managed several shot attempts, but UWEC's defense, including blocked shots by
Rachel Mirwald and
Jordan Hancock, ensured a 2–0 lead for the visitors at the end of the period.
UW-Eau Claire extended their lead in the second period with four unanswered goals, starting with
Madisyn Krumholz's even-strength goal at 18:02, assisted by
Sam Moehle. Just minutes later, at 14:45,
Kylie Wiltse found the back of the net with help from
Nora Carstensen, prompting Bethel to call a timeout. The scoring continued when
Lauren Ballinger capitalized on a power play at 9:57, assisted by Carstensen. The Blugolds concluded their dominant period with another power-play goal by
Kenzie Keller at 5:28, bringing the score to 6-0.
UWEC extended its lead early in the third period as Keller scored at 11:28, assisted by
Keira Bolt. Bethel struggled to convert their opportunities, despite winning several faceoffs and firing numerous shots, all saved by
Kambelle Freije. The Blugolds' defense was resilient, blocking multiple attempts from the Royals. The Blugolds maintained a commanding 7–0 lead by the end of the period, securing a decisive victory.
Krumholz scored one goal and recorded three shots, contributing to the offensive effort. Harper Hulter provided two assists and ended with a +3 rating, bolstering the team's performance. Hansen netted two goals, including the game-winner, and dominated faceoffs with a 78% success rate. Ballinger added a power-play goal and maintained a 66% faceoff win percentage.
The Blugolds hold an overall record of 11-4-0 following their decisive victory. The Royals stand at 4-4-2 after the loss.
