WHITEWATER, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team began their 2025-26 season on Saturday with a trip to UW-Whitewater for the Warhawk Invitational. The BlugoldsĀ combined for five wins on the day and tied for fifth out of eight teams, earning 20 total points.Grinnell College took the top of the podium with 40 points on the day.
Aubrey Wittwer was the highest finishing Blugold during the afternoon tournament with a second place finish in the No. 3 singles bracket. Wittwer defeated Carthage's Bella RizzoĀ 7-5, 6-1 in the opening round and UW-La Crosse's Izzy BrinkmanĀ 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals to earn a spot in the finals. Wittwer battled hard against Grinnell'sĀ Marta Gonzalez but eventually fell 6-2, 6-4 to earn runner up status.

Stella Platt made their Blugold debuts in fashion with a 6-4 opening round victory over Carthage. A 6-0 defeat in the semis and a close 6-2 battle in the third place match earned them fourth place honors. At No. 3 doubles, Anna Paula Ricaurte and
Morgan Briggman picked up a 7-5 victory in the consolation semifinals to earn fifth overall.Ā
The BlugoldsĀ will open Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Sept. 5 at the John & Fay Menard Tennis Center against UW-River Falls. First matches are set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
