WHITEWATER, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team fell to UW-Whitewater 4-1 in the championship dual of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Team Tournament on Saturday. The Blugolds defeated UW-La Crosse in the semifinals to reach the finals for the third time in the last four seasons before falling to the Warhawks, who earned the automatic NCAA Tournament bid.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blugolds knocked off UW-La Crosse 4-3 in the semifinals to start the day.
- UW-Eau Claire won at No. 1 and 3 doubles to take the doubles point against the Eagles.
- In singles play, Morgan Dekan (Sr. - Altoona, Wis.), Beatriz Felchak (Fr. - Curitiba, Brazil) and Liv Herzog (Jr. - Owatonna, Minn.) picked up victories to help the Blugolds punch their ticket to the championship dual.
- Against the Warhawks, the Blugolds dropped all three doubles matches. Herzog won in straight sets at No. 5 singles, but the Warhawks won three other matches to lock up the conference title.
The Blugolds finished the season with 13-10 dual record.
