CHICAGO — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's lacrosse team fell 25-6 to 24th-ranked University of Chicago on Saturday afternoon at Stagg Field in its last regular season game. The loss drops UW-Eau Claire to 10-6 overall heading into the postseason.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-Eau Claire briefly tied the game at 1-1 in the first quarter with an unassisted goal from Reegan Werner (Jr. – Farmington, Minn.).
- Chicago scored eight goals to close out the first period, building a 9-2 lead.
- Ellie Fisher (So. – Stillwater, Minn.) added a goal in the first quarter for the Blugolds.
- Werner scored again in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 12-3, but Chicago answered with four straight goals to close the half.
- The Maroons dominated the third quarter 8-0, stretching the lead to 24-3.
- Paige Kiani (So. – New Brighton, Minn.) scored early in the fourth with an assist from Werner assist.
- Werner finished with four goals, scoring twice in the last five minutes to lead the Blugolds offensively.
