GRINNELL, Iowa — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team fell to No. 41 Grinnell 7-0 in its regular season finale on Sunday. The Blugolds won the top doubles match, but saw some tight singles matches go the Pioneers' way to decide the dual.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The duo of Samantha Fuchs (Sr. - DeForest, Wis.) and Anna Lee (Jr. - Buffalo, Minn.) won the No. 1 doubles match 6-2, but the Blugolds dropped the other two doubles matches to give Grinnell a 1-0 lead entering singles play.
- In singles, the Pioneers swept all six matches. Three of those went to third-set tiebreaks, though.
- Lee fell by two points in a tiebreaker at No. 2 singles. Liv Herzog (Jr. - Owatonna, Minn.) also fell by two in a tiebreak at No. 4, and Aubrey Wittwer (Fr. - Delano, Minn.) fell by four points in a tiebreak at No. 6.
