MANHEIM, Pa. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team had eight wrestlers receive Scholar All-America honors from the National Wrestling Coaches Association for the 2024-25 season. The NWCA announced the recipients Friday.
Preston Carlisle (Jr. - Red Wing, Minn./Cannon Falls),
Ryder Depies (So. - Merrill, Wis.),
Tristan Drier (So. - Cadott, Wis.),
Zak McPhee (Fr. - Duluth, Minn./Proctor),
Travis Moelter (So. - River Falls, Wis.),
Zach Sato (Sr. - Oswego, Ill.),
Niall Schoenfelder (Sr. - Antioch, Ill.) and
Jared Stricker (Sr. - High Bridge, Wis./Ashland) all received Scholar All-American distinction.
In order to be named a Scholar All-American, a wrestler must have either placed in the top eight of their regional tournament or have a winning percentage greater than 66% across 15 matches. In the classroom, they must have an average GPA of 3.2 or higher over the last two semesters or a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better.
Carlisle, Sato and Schoenfelder are now three-time Scholar All-Americans. All the other Blugold honorees earned the distinction for the first time in their careers.
